My Life for Yours Page 3

“I realise that tonight’s only dinner, but you look so beautiful.”

  “I know” I reply.

“Do you have to ruin every moment?”

“Watch it, Son.” G puts a hand on Jeremy’s shoulder, stopping Jeremy from saying anything further.

“We’re good, G, you can go.”

  “You sure, Frank?”

“Definitely sure.” I give G a small nod as he leaves us in my office, and I lean back against my desk.

“So I piss you off?” I start this rather amusing conversation.

“You’re just so damn full of yourself.”

“You don’t like assertive women? You’d rather I was submissive, weak and insecure?”

“Not at all, it’s just you’re a hard bitch all the time, Frankie. You don’t have to be like that.”

“You don’t know a damn thing about me, Jeremy,” crossing my arms in front of my body, I’m putting an invisible barrier up between us.

“You’re right, I don’t; all I know is from the little we’ve interacted, you come across as a bitch.”

“Then why are you so desperate to make it up to me? Or are you trying to wangle your way in so you can attempt to destroy the public Frankie DeLuca that you think you know?”

“I’m just trying to start over again, I know who you are. I know what you do, I’m not an idiot but for some reason, which I can’t even explain to myself, I find you intriguing and when you aren’t being a bitch, I find you genuine. And in my life, genuine’s hard to come by.”

“When I’m not being a bitch? Senator I hate to tell you, but that’s all that I am.” I sneer and shake my head.

“I don’t believe it, Frankie. I think you like to push people away it’s easier for yourself not to become attached.”

“What the fuck are you talking about? Attached? Do you even know what that word means? What we have is nothing and it’ll remain to be nothing but a little bit of fun, if I’m lucky and you don’t come before I do.” I spit out in a disgusted and angry pitch.

“I’m digging my heels in. You want to be like that? I don’t care. You want to say whatever the hell you want to shock me? Again, I don’t care. You want to push all my damn buttons, I DON’T CARE.” He’s impeding on my personal space, the more he pushes me the more I want to tell him to go fuck himself but also, the more I want him to challenge me because I find it strangely erotic that he wants to put himself in that position. “So get your damn coat or bag or whatever the hell you’re going to bring and get that tight little arse out to my car.”

Jeremy leaves me in my office and walks down the hall towards the front door. I stand still for a moment and notice heat throbbing and excitement pools between my legs. My nipples go incredibly hard but my brain’s telling me that this man is nothing but trouble. Together, we’ll both be nothing but trouble. Together, we’ll both be explosive, if he can get his cock under control.

Taking my jacket but leaving my bag behind, I slowly walk out to Jeremy’s car. In my driveway sits a convertible BMW little two door number. The look of horror must be very clear, I can feel my eyes widen, my mouth open and my nose scrunch up.

“Now you have a problem with my car?” He leans his arm across the passenger seat and raises one eyebrow at me.

“Seriously, Senator, you want me in that?” I point to the death trap.

“How do you want to get to where we’re going?”

I make it obvious that I’m not entirely impressed with him, by rolling my eyes and putting a hand on my hip.

“Get in the damn car, Frankie. Your security detail will be following us and if it’s about your hair I’ll put the roof up.”

Bastard, caught me out and almost bullied me into getting in the car with him. He presses a button and the top goes on while I’m still standing there looking at him.

“Get in the car,” he instructs again with a harder tone.

I don’t say anything; instead I slide in and clench my thighs together. I ignore him as he starts the car and I look out the window. A small smile plies my lips but I don’t dare show Jeremy that this banter’s something I’m quite enjoying and, damn, I find it sexy as hell.

  Chapter 7

Jeremy drives with complete precision, slow enough so that my guys can keep up in the van but fast enough to give me a small thrill. He winds around the roads that leads us out of Boston about twenty minutes away to Mystic Lakes. He parks the car and comes around to open my door.

“For fuck sake, Senator, I’m wearing heels.”

“And I’m wearing a suit,” a cocky look crosses his face, challenging me with just that spunky grin.

“You want us to go for a walk, hold hands, talk sweetly and spill our feelings out about how all we want to do is rip each other’s clothes off and fuck, and then talk about the future, Senator? Cause if that’s what you expect from me then you have the wrong woman in mind. Picnics, butterflies, teddy bears and flowers are reserved for girls who have a heart. Neither do I have one, nor do I want one.”

“You’re one tough Mob Boss, Frankie, but seriously get out of the car and come and have a picnic with me. Take your damn shoes off, turn off the bitching and just enjoy what I’ve made for us.”

Still sitting in the car, I run my tongue along my top teeth eying Jeremy up and down. Damn prick, has me all turned on by his stupid challenging ways. I slip my shoes off and step out of the car refusing Jeremy’s hand to assist me out. He grins at me and steps back putting both his palms up in a resigning manner.

“You’re seriously a pain in the arse, but definitely worth the heartache and trouble you’re going to cause.”

“Heartache? I told you, I don’t have one.”

“You may not, but mine’s ready for you, Frankie and one day I’ll creep into that ice encased heart of yours and before you know it, you won’t be able to breathe without telling me.”

“Senator, I wouldn’t be waiting around expecting fairy dust to fly out of my mouth.”

“It’ll happen, already you can’t say no to me.” Only because I want to know what his mother has on us. And if I’m being truthful to myself, I do find him attractive and maybe a little resistant by my blunt behaviour.

“You have such high hopes, Senator, there’re two people I love in this world, G and myself. The only other person I loved died of a heart attack.”

Jeremy lays out a picnic blanket and we sit under an old willow tree shielding us just enough from the public eye. It’s now just after 6.30pm and the sun’s falling, as the park lights have flickered on illuminating enough so we can see outlines of my security. It’s still just bright enough for cameras to snap us together, but the old willow’s standing regal and protecting us.

Jeremy starts unpacking the picnic basket laying it all on the rug, a large selection of cold foods and a bottle of wine all sit waiting to be consumed. I look up at Jeremy and a smile of pride and accomplishment is plastered all over his entire body.

“So, you cook?” I try not to sound bitchy but let’s face it, everything I say is going to come out harshly.

“Actually, no. I can’t cook for the life of me. So I had my chef prepare something for us.” A light laughter passes between us.

“And you’re sitting over there all cavalier that you’ve put this spread out and you didn’t even make it.”

“I bought the wine,” he shrugs his shoulders at me.

“Well I guess stopping the car and walking into a bottle shop should count for something hey?!”

“Ahhh, well that’s not exactly what I meant. I brought it up from the cellar.”

The air goes perfectly quiet, no one says a word until I start laughing. Dear Lord, what have I agreed to do? Why am I here with him?

“Tell me, Frankie, what is it that you do exactly?” And so it starts.

“I’m an entrepreneur.” My standard answer.

  “In what?”

“I have a wide range of businesses.”

  “How wide?”

/>   “Are you asking me as a Senator or are you asking me from a mere conversation point of view?” The meagre brightness that was here moments ago has now been replaced with a darker dusk.

Jeremy leans back on his elbows, fully extending his incredibly long legs in front of him. I relax my stance and completely lie down looking up to the full moon that’s overhead. It’s beaming with such a golden full glow that it feels like if I stand tall enough, I’ll be able to reach up and touch it.

“La Bella Luna,” Jeremy mutters to himself.

  “It definitely is very beautiful.”

“Don’t look now, Frankie but I think fairy dust just escaped past your sumptuous lips.”

Moving my head so I can see Jeremy, he’s staring up at the moon and paying me no due.

“I’m asking as a man interested in you to tell me about your work.” His eyes don’t leave the twilight sky or the orb of the night hanging over us like a perfect chandelier lit only for our pleasure.

“It doesn’t matter how or for what reason you ask me, I can’t answer questions about my job.”

  “I’m not judging you.”

“And I’m still not telling you.”

“Tell me about your family then. You can talk to me about them.”

“There’s no them, Mom died from breast cancer when I was so young that I have no memory of her and as you know, Dad died from a heart attack three years back. So now the only family I have is G.”

  “What does G stand for?”

“So you are here to find out about my business.”

“God, you infuriate me,” Jeremy sits up and I do too so we’re equally level, I’m not going to let him stand over me or try to intimidate me. “You think the whole world’s out to get you.”

“Maybe they are. Maybe you are. Maybe this is an attempt to trap me.” I point to him then to me.

“I get it, you have trust issues. Really I do get it but I don’t care about that. I just want to get to know you, and what you’re about. And maybe have some sort of relationship with you.”

“Oh, pray tell, Senator. How do you expect that to happen? How do you expect this to work?” I gesture between the two of us.

“I don’t have all the answers. I don’t have any answer. All I know is that you literally slammed into me and since then my world’s been on one big collision course of Frankie DeLuca. Three days and all I can think about are those deviant soulful eyes, the way your lips felt on my chest, your wet pussy sliding all over my cock, your hips rocking back and forth, the warmth of your exquisite body as I held it against mine. And I want it again, and again and again. That’s the only answer I have for you. I want you, but at the same time I know our worlds are different. You’re a damn criminal and I’m a Senator and at some stage one or both of us is going to have to sacrifice and it’s likely going to be me. But my spirit can’t let you go, no matter what my brain tells me.” I think my thong just exploded.

  “Senator….”

“That’s my job, not who I am. I don’t address you as Mafia so don’t call me Senator. It’s Jeremy or a term of affection, not Senator.” He takes my hand and entwines our fingers.

“Jeremy, you’re right. Our universes are stark opposites, we don’t make sense. We can only exist in the same world and know that we breathe the same air, but I don’t think we can do more than that.” Jeremy’s playing with my fingers while he moves his hard body closer to mine.

“You don’t listen too closely do you? I really don’t think we have much of an option here. I’m not going away from you.”

  “I think you’re crazy.”

  “And I think you’re dangerous.”

  “I know I’m dangerous.”

“Good, I’d hate to think I didn’t have a challenge in you.”

“Hmmm,” I huff and avert my eyes, looking over the lake that now’s lit only by the reflection of the light glow from the moon.

“What can you tell me about your family, Jeremy?”

“Well Dad was assassinated about five years ago and Mom’s very much alive. She organises my campaign trail and any benefits that I need to be at. Speaking of benefits, there’s one I need to attend on Saturday night.”

  “I’m happy for you.”

“Bitch alert,” Jeremy rolls his eyes at me.

  “Anyway, you were saying.”

“I want you to go with me” I was sipping on my wine when he says that, choking on the mouthful I had, I look over at him.

  “Really?”

  “What’s the problem?”

“You make it all so simple, Jeremy. Like we both don’t have things to hide.”

“I’m not hiding a damn thing from you, Frankie.”

“I’m sure there’d be skeletons lurking deep inside your closet.”

“Not unless someone else put them there. Anyway, I know what you’re doing. And be ready by 4pm, it starts at 5pm.”

“You assume too much, I might be busy.”

“Again, I repeat my earlier words. Bitch alert.” I try to hold in the smirk but the edge of my mouth curves up.

“Fine, I’ll go with you. But expect the questions to come hard and fast.”

“Hmmm, about hard and fast,” Jeremy looks around and seems a little embarrassed. “I’m truly sorry about that.”

“Forget it, Jeremy. I’ll only bring it up when you deserve it.”

“Enough talking, Frankie. I’m going to kiss you now and you’re not going to stop me. Not because you can’t say no, but because you don’t want to say no.”

Before I say a word, Jeremy’s lips meet mine. I close my eyes and lean into him as he leans into me. His hands come up to cradle my head as he laces his fingers through my chestnut mid length loose curls. He sucks my bottom lip into his mouth while his hot tongue slowly teases me to give him more access. My own tongue dashes out and licks his, I bite down on his lip and Jeremy rumbles as his soft lips kiss down to my chin. I tilt my head back and the tip of Jeremy’s tongue draws a leisurely line from my chin down towards the neck line of my dress. He stops along the way to suck and nibble on my collarbone, but when I arch my back and push into his mouth a little more, he continues the torture a little further down, again stopping to suck on the skin just above my breast.

“Fuck, don’t stop that.” I groan, barely making sense with my words.

“I have to,” he pulls away from me, leaving my body combusting with a scorching inferno and craving for more of him.

Opening my eyes, Jeremy’s sitting next to me; he leans in and kisses me on the cheek, leaving the warmth of his lips connecting with my own blazing skin. “I really want to take you home.” He mumbles as the heat of his breath sends a shiver through my entire body.

“Not tonight. Apparently I need to get myself home and ready for a benefit tomorrow night.”

“Lie with me, Darling,” he reclines on the picnic blanket and puts his arm out for me; I curl into his side and notice something. We fit together quite perfectly, like we’re made for each other. I realise what I just thought and shake my head, like I’m discreetly trying to dislodge the image from my brain. I mean, I’ve never been twinkle lights and sugar cubes so I’m not sure where this sweet side has come from. “Tell me something about yourself that you can tell me.”

“You piss me off and turn me on. Simultaneously.” I turn into him and wrap my arm around his chest. He’s got one arm cradling me around my back and his other hand starts drawing lazy shapes on my arm over his chest.

Jeremy chuckles at my statement. “You really surprise me; I’ll have to learn to expect anything out of that sexy mouth. I like your sexy mouth, matter of fact there isn’t much I don’t like about you.”

“Are you saying that there’s something you don’t find endearing?”

“That lack of filter infuriates me but also has me totally enchanted and bewildered. And damn, Darling, I can’t wait until that mouth of yours is wrapped around my cock.”

I don’t say anything else; I just lay ther
e as Jeremy’s hands touch over my flaming skin. My blinks start to get longer; Jeremy turns his head and kisses my forehead. My body totally relaxes in strong arms and a light slumber finds me on this early summer’s night.

  Chapter 8

  “Darling, wake up.”

  “Mmmm.”

“Come on I’d better get you home.”

  Heat.

  Warmth.

  Kisses.

I feel it all and I don’t want to open my eyes. “Mmmm,” I groan again. Opening my eyes I look into the pearly gaze of Jeremy. “Your eyes are truly an amazing color, Senator, a cross between molten silver and sky clouds.”

“I’m impressed, Frankie. Two fairy dust references within hours of each other.” He starts snickering to himself.

I unravel our bodies from the mess we’re in together and start to stand. I stretch my arms up above my head and look up into the starry night; it’s then that I feel Jeremy’s head on my stomach. He leans his entire body into mine, as I look down he’s on his knees totally surrendering to me. He gazes up at me and I watch him as he kisses me through my dress.

“Tomorrow night, I want you like this after the benefit, Jeremy. On your knees and ready to please me.” I scratch my fingers through his hair.

“Bringing you pleasure is something I want and look forward to.”

“Good now take me home, it’s late and I want to go to bed.”

Jeremy stands and starts packing the picnic blanket up and placing everything in the hamper.

The drive home’s a little more relaxing with our hands entwined together laying on my lap, a comfortable silence fills the air of the car.

Jeremy pulls into my drive way, parks and comes to open my door. Extending his hand waiting for me to take it, I slide out of the seat with no assistance from him. He shakes his head and smirks while he drops his hand beside himself.
